Just came back from a great game, which was won convincingly by United but it was marred by the injury to Rio, who twisted his ankle when landing badly on the ground. He will definatly miss wednsday's CL qualifier and even maybe the start of the premiership, which is bad news. John O's Shea did come on in his place and did very well, this will certainly (once again) test the strength of our defence.

The game itself showed great sharpness by United, with the likes of Seba Veron, Keano Van Nistlerooy (2 goals) etc looking amazing at times and some of the passing was slick. A special mention for Seba because he has been excellent in pre season and is looking special once again. The game was a 'friendly' with Roger Moore (ex 007) presenting Sir Alex with an award before the game for being a great ambassador for the UNICEF charity.

There were some bad tackles in the game, with Nicky Butt & Paul Scholes on the receiving end, Carlos Tevez was sent off for elbowing Scholesy in the face, it seemed like a lot of frustration was being shown by the Argentines (or maybe they were just acting natural?) :-)

Some of Utd's youth are beginning to ask questions and the likes of Pugh, Richardson, Djordic, O'Shea etc have matured very quickly and look like stars of the future.

Everything is set up for a good season, but we must qualify for the CL first.

Come on United!

I would have to agree this is a must buy, the extracts in the Sunday Papers made great reading.

Cant wait for Roy Keane's autobiography...

With regards to Escude, the transfer is on hold.

There is something about it on the Beeb website...

One thing I forgot to mention was Ryan Giggs.

He didnt get past thier number 6 once. And to be quite honest he was pretty inconsistent last season.

Just mentioning this becasue i've been watching "the premiership years" on sky over the last week or so and it reminded me how much of a genius Giggs was in those days...

Maybe he just aint over exerting himself these days becasue he is scared of pulling his hamstring?

Good win, played un-like a friendly, shame about Rio Ferdinand.

Hopefully he won't be out for too long though.
We may be ok for the West Brom opener next Saturday, but I think we would need him for extra security on Wednesday.
Hopefully Escude will be signed-up and ready by then though. :D
Any news on the deal yet??

Scholes looked like he was gunna kill someone from what I saw!
We have a dangerous midfield with Butt and Keane in there too.
Have you heard that Fergie may want to replace Scholes with Butt alongside Keane this season??

That's something I read the other day, hopefully it doesn't mean he'll start playing Scholes behind Ruud again though..... :S

2 great goals from Van the Man though.
Juts a shame I couldn't be there to see it. :(

I was at the match also in the West Stand (the old Stretford end) and i would have to agree Richardson looks very promising for the future. Utd have a few good young players coming through.

Hopefully Rio will only be out for a couple of games. I thought Forlan might get a goal, the players seemed to be doing there best to get the ball to him. I also thought Veron had his best game for a while, I think we will see a big season from him.
