The Seven sins exsist so that we, as human beings, can follow a decent life, you don't have to read the good book every day to know that. But what does this statment have to do with the humble computing world? Well, during a gaming session I started to think of the subliminal message's portrayed by Nintendo in their games and how these contradict the Seven deadly sins, the results were scary to say the least.....

Let's take a look at what on earth is going on...

Pride - The excessive belief in one's own abilities.

Someone who see's themself as a hero, a legend even as 'the chosen one' must surly be guility of Pride. The guilty party here is Link. Constatnly, Nintendo brest feed us with a tale of heroic proportions. Why must it be Link who saves the Hyrule? Personally I'd pay good money to see the entire Deku tribe take on the likes of Ganondorf. It's just not cricket when one person takes it upon himself to save the world everytime there's a little demonic uproar...

Envy - The desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

The Kirby dreamland series, Kirby Adventure, Kirby 64 and even Super Smash borthers (Melee). Whats so importent? Kirby's ability is all! In each game he appeared and fell victim to the sin of Envy. Not only did he 'desire' others' abilities, he stole them! In the most grotesque manner (sucking them and and spitting them out). Utter scandel.

Gluttony - The inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Ahhh, the Pikmin, here to save Captain Olimar....wrong, wRoNg, WRONG! They don't need to save him, it's never exaplained in the game. The reason they 'help' him is because the are guilty of gluttony. They use Captain Olimar as a puppet of opression without him even knowing, those evil masterminds....They allow him to think he's leader because he's tall enough to see where food is. He then locates said food and the Pikmin carry it off merely to increase their population, with the increased numbers the Pikmin can kill larger creatures thus increasing the population more so, truly a sickening act cycle.

Lust - The inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

Surely, Nintendo couldn't hide a sin as big as this on a 'family entertainment' console....wrong yet again. The soon to be released Harvest Moon: A wonderful life will actually have you persude the girl which you find most attractive by showering her in random pap! But those clever white coated nerds at the Ninty labs have covered it up by claiming that the main objective is to run a farm. Lies! It's just a love 'em up in disguise, filth.

Anger - Manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury.

Ah, too easy. Who's the one who want's to see Mario and Luigi burn in the bottom of a lava pit? Who's the one who's very nature allows him to use fire as a weapon, fire being eerily symoblic of anger and rage, and whos the one still sporting a Punk style moechan haircute form the 70's - the real crime here....Bowser of course! For decades he's been froozen in a state of rage constanly seeking to see Mario's flabby head impaled on a spike, he's blatently a victim of anger.

Greed - The desire for material wealth or gain.

We all thought It'd be brilliant to see our favorite bumbling green plumber finally get his share of the 'lime'-light. That was until, it turned out he was a sinner.
Luigis Mansion believe it or not is based on the very basis of Greed; Enter the mansion and find the mollah. Sure, Nintendo tried to hide the fact by making you vacuum up ghosts, a ridiculous cover-up in itself, but it was too blatent that Luigi is greedy. People claim to have seen him earn up to 20 million from hoovering chandellears. 20 million! Far too much money for one person and yet at the end of the game, there is sign that he shared the money, not even with his brother. Abolutly disguisting

Sloth - The avoidance of physical or spiritual work

Wario, the chubby arch-enemy of Mario. As soon as he stepped on the scene it was obvious he was a victim of Sloth. Just look at the photographic evidence..

http://www.nintendo.co.jp/n02/dmg/aw8a/wario.gif

...he may be making the 'peace' gesture but that's exactly what his stomach ISN'T getting. No doubt it's constantly bombarded with chocolate, crips, cakes, currys and biscuits. Just look at his beer belly (along with distinct 'heavy drinker' red nose) gained from night after night on the tiles, it's an absolute disgrace to see someone this high up in the social ladder let himself go like that...

So the conclusion, Well I can only imagine that Nintendo are trying to create some sort of Cult consisitng of brain-washed followers, constantly buying Nintendo products. The most impresive part to the whole sceme? The fact that Nintendo are seen to aim their products at children, the most influential and naive section of the worlds population, this ladies and gentlemen, is a truly diabolical sceme.

Maybe it's too late to save the feeble minded children, maybe it's not, either way.....A dark side of Nintendo has been revealed.

Thanks for reading, and don't have nightmares

Mike.

Heh, good post!

I doubt that Nintendo will need to use any brain-washing techniques in order to make sales of both games and consoles during the forthcoming 12 months or so - looking at the games line-ups!

But after that... and before it..... who knows...??
