It is because we are going out instead of being in... but when will developers realize that we live in the UK! It rains! idiots, can't go out its wet, no games to play... *yawn* guess we'll have to read a book or something.

Apparently there is always a drought due to people not buying games in the Summer as they go on holiday instead. Thats balls, most of us have 6-10 weeks off so we want games then! Anyways, it all kicks off again (on PS2) this month with TOCA heading the pack!!! Damn, I said it again!

Thats what happens but because the games are poor quality they don't make any profit or don't recieve any hype. The 'small developers' are small for a reason, they can't churn out a decent game every now and then.

well, if you're a PC owner that owns and has played through all the quality new releases (of which there is almost an alarmingly large number), then I say you either have too much time on your hands, or you aren't playing the games completely.

Same applies to the GC, where there are a great many good new titles, and a great many more coming out in september and onwards.

I own both, and I have absolutely nothing to complain about, except for that I don't have enough time to play all my new games.

Bah, the summer gaming drought is non-existant this year, (for Ninties) :D

Except for August :-(

Just look at what games are coming out in September, and then the games that come out week after week for 5 weeks!
That should last us 'till Christmas, shouldn't it?

Well, as usual the summer drought is to be expected because most companies are saving the big releases for the more lucrative Christmas market.

Which, if you think about it, has never made sense to me? Sure, it works for companies like Nintendo, Konami etc etc, but if I was a smaller developer I would release my game during the summer - AWAY from all the big releases. That way shops could devote more to advertising and sales would probabaly increase. When they release it during Christmas, their games just get buried in the face of bigger releases. Shame, that.
