"What a rip off!"

Saw the video for the Ashanti track over the weekend, and it completely rips off Goodfellas!

Can people not think up any new ideas for music videos?

For those that don't know, the video follows the bit of Goodfellas from when Henry agrees to go on a double date with Tommy, and follows through with Henry metting Karen, including the bit where they walk through the kitchens of the Copa Club to miss the queue.

The thing that annoys me about this is that many kids who see the video won't know that it originally came from a top film. That really annoys me, not sure why though.

Thoughts?

Yes, read what Jive said, oh one of many Jo's. I have no idea who this woman you are talking of is. And I don't have sky. Or cable. So I don't watch music videos. I actually buy things called CD's to listen to music on rather than watch videos usually suck anyway.

MoJoMan, I think you need to reread what Sibs said, "I have no idea who" not "what" your talking about.

I think he knows what music is, it's just who Ashanti is. By the way, I have no idea who she is either but I presume she's a bit of a babe? :-)

Then there the was the track with fat joe

I like Ashanti, I like Ashanti a lot...

It's not a rip-off because they just copied it, anyway, it's a pap track hope you didn't buy it.
She actually said in an interview that it was copied straight from goodfellas because thats what the tracks about, I don't like Ashanti.

It's not meant to be copying, it's meant to be showing respect. You look at just about any film, and there'll be similarities in scenes from one film to another, usually directors imitating their favourite films. I know I'll do exactly the same if I ever make it as a director

Goodfellas is a fantastic film.

There's my thoughts, things like that happen all the time though really, copying like that.

You've only just seen it now? Bloomin' heck, it's been around for months
