It is my theory that spurs offered Rivaldo some kind of incentive to say that he had been considering White Hart Lane.
The reason for this is all to clear.
Two days before Tim Sherwood gives his interview labeling spurs as "unambitious" and that Glenn Hoddle doesn't try hard enough to get transfer funds. Then miraculously a couple of days later the "spurs almost signed Rivaldo stories emerged" IMO this is just a little bit suspect. Now we all know what spurs supporters are bit Naive but Rivaldo playing for spurs is a bit far fetched, and it appears tim sherwood is the only one with any sense.

I couldn't believe that Spurs would actually have the funds for Rivaldo or even that he would consider playing at a considerably smaller club than he is used to.
The stories also emerged after Tottenham fans staged a mini revolt at one of there pre season friendlies about them not buying Kevin Phillips.
