I think I have turned into a 'minimalist gamer'....

I do not own any of the current consoles (X-box, Gamecube and PS2), nor do I have any plans to...

I have over the past six months sold most of my games so that I only have a handful..on the ORIGINAL Gameboy (2 games), an old SNES (1 game) and N64 (2 games)...

I spend less time playing games than now than I have ever done over the past twenty years since I first started on my Spectrum 47K...

...and yet I feel that I am more into gaming now than I ever was.

My point is this; to be into games, do you actually have to spend much time playing them? How come that I feel that I actually appreciate games more now that I have become a 'minimalist gamer'?

Compared to my friends I probably would be classed as a minimalist gamer. I have 11 N64 games, 9 PS2 games, 2 GameCube games, 2 GB games and 1 GBA game.

Now, to me, this feels enough, and to you, it may seem like a lot. But my mates are strutting around with their 30 something games on each console, buying each game as it comes out.

Now, I prefer to 'play games to death' as the saying goes before I move on to a new one. Playing games for fun is good, but I like to be thorough. So really, I buy relatively minimal games but play them to the maximum er.. point.

Hope that made sense.

I'm a minimalist gamer in the sense that I want a spaceous white room with a black chair, one huge wide-screen TV, a console and an unlimited supply of Nicotine gum in a tall glass tube.

My ambition is to be a minimalist gaming monk.
