I was playing FFX and trying to collect all the Al Bhed Primers in the game, there's 26 in total. I had just two more to collect, numbers XXV and XXVI, when I checked my key items just to see what owning the first 24 looked like. I realised number XX and XXI were missing. And the only place to get them was Al Bhed Home. Which had been destroyed about 30 Save Spheres ago. I'd forgotten to collect them. Now I've got to play the game all the way up to there again to collect the full set. Dumb.
Other dumb gaming feats that I've pulled off:
Saving a brand new TOCA game over my mates saved one, blowing about 6 months of late night lap record beating out the window. He wasn't happy.
Playing World Championship Snooker and getting a break of 140 with just the black to go, and deciding to go for a double instead of a straightish pot into the middle pocket. I missed.
Dropping a GameBoy into the toilet. (Anyone else done this?).
Buying Army Men RTS in the hope that 3DO had finally got their act together with the series.
Walking off cliffs in Adventure Games. I don't know why I do this. I see a cliff and think "I wonder what will happen if I walk Lara to that edge and keep going...".
Blinking whilst taking a sharp corner in Burnout, not a good idea. Matchsticks recommended.
Buying a game that I hadn't played for ages to relive the memories, then discovering that I've already got the game lying in a drawer at home gathering dust. I'm also the proud owner of two fully-working Sega Megadrives, I really should check the contents of my attic more often.
Buying Deus Ex for my PC, then realising I'd have to spend another £200 on upgrades just to play it. Spending £200 on a new Voodoo graphics card for my PC then discovering it doesn't fit because my PC only uses laptop components.
Starting off Gran Turismo with a Dihatsu.
I feel better sharing all of that with you lot. But it was probably a dumb idea.

Done that too, on Gran Turismo aswell, with a sh*tload of cars. Gone!

Done this too, although not on that game. Funny how you do so well, then just feel possessed to showboat, then you screw up.

No, but I have dropped it out of an upstairs window!

Just like the Snooker thing, you just feel possessed don't you? And you know it's a stupid thing to do, but you do it anyway!

I hardly blink anymore :(

That made me LOL, not because I've dropped a GameBoy down the toilet but I have dropped a key down there whilst on holiday, fell off the waistband of my shorts. I had just stood there and been aswell. Key to apartment had to be retrieved.....oh what memories that's just bought back :-)

A friend of mine has just had this problem. Went out and bought Jedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast for his son. I went over to look at PC to find out why it was running so slow and I gave him the great news that the PC he's got is absolute total toss and he's now looking at purchasing a new base unit for approx £350. Expensive game :-)
I admit, I've made some mistakes concerning games in my time like when I deleted the wrong MGS2 save, but FM, yours rules way over mine.
I'll leave you now with a word of comfort ... BUMMER!!
:-D
