Does anyone know what ptsnoop.exe is? It's on my PC but I've no idea what it is and should I delete it?

Thanks in advance.

According to many sources from google it's only used by PCTEL HSP modems. But a bit weird as I have HSP56 Micromodem but don't have ptsnoop.

It's either a backdoor program or something your modem installed. I recommend running an updated virus scan on it.

I have ptsnoop on mine too. I'd recommend leaving it alone.

It can be several things, apparently - don't assume it's the trojan unless you can rule out the others:

1) Program installed with some modems that monitors the COM ports for the modem driver. Not needed from what I've read - may need a registry edit to get rid of it
(2) Backdoor trojan virus that copies itself as PTSNOOP.EXE -see http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/ptsnoop.shtml for more info
(3) Apparently the people who put it out claim it's a driver for a Voice modems (PCTel, I believe)
(4) Can also be an older Logitech scanner program. Remove from the Win.ini tab under Load='path'\PTSNOOP and the System.ini tab under drivers='path'\ptrtkr.drb. Can cause parallel port conflicts, dragging system resources way down when a conflict exists.

If it was there when you got the PC, it's best to leave it, it might be something important. Sorry I can't be any help :\
