Why should Sir Alex Ferguson remain as manager of Manchester United When he stated that he would leave last season? Do you think that man utd board members could not replace him?

I agree with you there that his last year should be a succesfull one - even if it is earlier than expected.
I still doubt that'll be this season though - seeing as we still need a strike-partner for Van Nistelrooy.

I think he's intending it to be closer to now than when he previously stated - possibly before his contract expires.
And that he may be training up this new Assistant blokey to take over one day...

ferguson has past his sell by date and went completely mad about 18 months ago. I reckon he had a breakdown or something and thats why he said he was going to quit.

He has done an excellent job but i feel he has taken team as far as he can and that he should retire at the end of the season, especially if they win then he can be rembered even better. I think that he has agreed to retire at the end of the season in private with the Man utd board and that he will be replaced by martin o'neill who is out of contract at the end of the season and is the man utd boards favorite.

Exactly! The desire and passion for football is too strong!
Look at Bobby Robson in his 70's... that could be Fergie in 10 years time - you never know!

And there isn't really anyone who could replace him anyway!

Because he wanted to stay, and he wanted to bow out on a high note. What kind of idiots wouldn't try to persuade a genius like him to remain as manager?
