All articles in pc magasines telling you that you need a Broadband connection to play multiplayer games.IT IS ABSOLUTE RUBBISH! It all depends what connection the people you are playing with have! I play H&D over the net with my friend he has a DSL and i have a 56k. The frame rates when he moves are almost real-time! The FPS Games own are as follows-:
Delta Force 2
NOLF
H&D
Rogue Spear
Unreal Tournamnent

These all play perfectly on my 56k. Especially Unreal with a 16 player DECK16 deathmatch!
If anyone would like a match just contact me!
AS YOU CAN SEE I REALLY DO NEED SOME MORE GAMES FOR MY COLLECTION.

If you have a XBOX you alreeady have multiplayer compatibility with 2-4 players without a connection unless you dont have any friends to play with!

A lot of games play just fine on a 56k. There is no discernible difference, for example, playing StarCraft on Battle.net on a 56k or on Cable. Of course, if you're on a 56k, it helps to have the right service provider, and "the right one" varies depending what area you're in.

Of course it's possible!

I can play Worms WP perfectly because it does not require people to play simultaneously...

Red Alert 2 is good becuse the ping does not mean too much..

You can try to play FPS like Quake 3 with modem and although a ping of 200 (quite good for a modem) isn't too bad, you will soon suffer as your shots continuously miss the target!

PLay with broadband though and you're laughing!

The only point of my article is that gaming is actually pheasably possible on a 56k modem. All you need to speed up your modem is a V.92 modem and all the latest drivers.

First game I played online, ever, was Unreal Tournament on my 56k. Don't remember much lag, but then this was several years ago, and my memory ain't what it was. After that modem burned out, we got a new one, and it gave me a ping of 3000 on CS, so I was out of online gaming for over a year. Then along came my cable modem, praise the lord, no lag, fast downloads, great gaming. The cost of cable is justified with the speeds you get
