I was just watching the news, and to my jaw-dropping amazement she was on it. She was also incredibly good. Now, all that summersaulting, bar-jumping trickery usually impresses me anyway, but even taking that into account, it was... well, jaw dropping.
I think she won a silver medal, and the news woman said she'll probably net at least one gold in the individual events.
In comparison, i'll probably be playing county level pool by the time i can afford a car to get me everywhere, and in the next week should find out if i might be able to get a couple of years of semi-pro basketball. Oh, and i joined a local sunday-league type welsh football team.
Do i sound like a looser? ;O)
And do you feel like one? I do.
Maybe that's just my attitude. Seeing other people being incredibly successful does that to me, especially if i knew them (well, a little bit, not really well) at some time.
As it happens the beam was one of my best events, along with the Vault and the A-Symetric Bars. The beam is not that difficult to perform moves on it just comes as a natural instinct, by the time I'd been doing it for months I could pull off backflips, front tuck somersaults and finish with a round-off double back somersault dismount.
Anyway, enough of my glory days... I'm off to reminisce over my medal collection (6 golds, 5 silvers, 3 bronze)
Woo yeah. :-)
*RBS' head has swelled* :-)
They get about 3 meter up in the air just by bouncing about on the floor!
And how the hell do you do a forward flip onto a beam thats just a bit bigger than your feet?!?!?!
WOW!
And also how many of them were under 16!
I saw a 14 year old doing the floor thing today!
I think that's the youngest they are allowed to be if I'm right?
