*This is not intended to start a console war*

The PS2 has now sold over 30m units, while the GC and XBox are on about 5m (give or take a few depending on which figures you read). So there are a lot more PS2 owners out there than GC or XBox owners. But on this forum, there appears to be a lot more GC and XBox owners (or at least people who support those consoles) compared with PS2. Don’t hit the screen - as i said i am not trying to start a console battle here. So on this forum, the ratio looks to be reversed compared with number of actual owners out there. If 30m units from Sony was represented, then the forum would be full of PS2 people to the point the others wouldn’t get a look in. But it’s not just this forum. I have seen the same thing in other web sites.
My theory is that, while PS2 does shift more in terms of numbers sold, only a handful are what i call “active” (ie, they use the internet and look into forums, etc). With Nintendo and Microsoft, i think a much greater number of the owners are “active”. So while the PS2 wins in numbers, the GC and XBox have many more enthusiastic owners that like to stick up for their console’s. In other words many PS2 owners just don’t bother.

That's a real funny comment that just goes to prove what c**p you talk. Why is it then the All formats game charts are always full of PS2 games if people are not buying them, then no-one has bought GC and Xbox games.

It is true that the games market is a bit dry right now, but this also goes for GC and XBox. Lets not forget, that both of them are "almost" new so there should be a lot of "new" software for them. Once we get the other side of the holidays, things should pick up again and we will be better able to say for certain.

However, the PS2 will survive simply because of the huge size of the player base, even though many people only use it as a DVD player, wishing they instead owned a decent one...
