Eclipsing the light that once did glow,
Won't your face echo the past,
Bring your life back from the show?
Maybe you're the one I'm fighting for,
Perhaps you're the one that's found a road
Paved a way above the laid out glass
But can it really hold your load?
Can you cope with up and down?
On a high because you're blind?
Waiting for it to come around
And all that's found is yet to find?
Yeah, sure, we've all been there
Found our truths and found our hurt
And then we believe we're truly happy
With our pain buried deep in dirt
Covered up and away from us
Even when we think we're fine
Do you really think you'll stay that way
Happy to walk your thickened line?
Because to feel too safe is dangerous
To feel you have no fears on this land
Is like taking all the rocks of life
And turning them into sand
Then expect them not to move
By the tides of time that push along
And I wish I could tell you all I've seen
But to get told it'll take too long
Makes me worry beyond belief
Not that people don't listen to me
But because they don't listen to anyone
Except the way that they hate to be
But won't admit it, that'd be weak
To show a life that's hard to live
Not you or me but them, yes them,
For taking more than they can give
Or taking less than they deserve
Because they feel they need no want
But I guess it won't take that long
Before something returns to haunt
Or what if something brings you down?
Slaps your guilt and rocks your core?
Then would you bring back your bowl?
Place it up and ask for more?
For when are friends important to you
When you need them to help you up?
What for when they need your help?
Ask to drink from your own cup?
You're happy now, you've found your fun
So sing your life away with pride
But never forget to help the ones
That you may have once cast aside.
