Are both methods the same?

registering consoles really seems pointles...
registering the ps2 gets me the occasional free demo thrown through the post (but then i've only had that twice or maybe once since August 2001)
registering the gamecube online gets you...wait for it...screensavers and wallpaper! woohoo
has anyone got anything for registering the xbox?

Meh. I ticked the box on the leaflet that said no promotions by microsoft or anyone else. And they've kept to this, I haven't recieved anything.

But registering did help a lot with the reward pack, seeing as they couldn't track it unless you had registered your Xbox (or so they said) so I would've probably never got mine!

Now they have your name, address and other details, and will be bombarding you with leaflets, emails and special offers. You have sold your soul to Satan

Sort of, although I have encountered much more people having registration problems after doing it online. The postal form is freepost, so I'd recommend sending that off, like I did.
