Well, that was the story up until this morning, when it actually transpires that the stabbing took place a quarter of a mile away from the game shop and the people involved had no connection to GTA IV.
Another typical example of games being blamed for something that wasn't related to them (see most Daily Mail stories for more fictional accounts). It's just like the whole Manhunt thing all over again.
Anyway, the main problem I have is that so many impressionable people who know nothing about gaming/anime etc read these views and then form opinions from them without thinking that there might be another side to it, or that newspapers actually lie (shock, horror) to make a story more sensational.

And I want to sell that game :p Not for the money, nor the fact its against the daily mail - just so I get to be in the game!
Oh wait...I did that on Rainbow Six Vegas. Then didn't think I looked too good as a game character. Also worried what yahtzee crowshaw would review me as.

Wow that's not like you pb :) especially after they gave you so many free DVDs and CDs and a quality TV guide.

Hippyman and pb take on the Daily Mail in this year's smash PS3 and Xbox 360 hit, the Great Tabloid Arson (GTA).
You get to play as a disgruntled gamer and forum pundit as they rampage towards the newspaper HQ, tackling journalists and reporters on the way.
Sure to be a controversial game, developers SockRar today announced it would be rated 18 (difficult possibly under 18's is all we could gather from the very difficult 18 certificate it has been given - who knows what that symbol means on game cases, I mean, yeah it looks like a movie certificate, but what does it mean on a game box?). Many Daily Mail readers are already calling for a ban.
Mr J Tockington from Midsomer Norton has labelled it as "Outrageous! If this game hits the shelf, more people will label us Daily Mail readers as mindles busybodies"
Out October 19th 2008 (although will more than definitely be delayed until April 29th 2009)
Their biggest blunder is Bully - Aimed at late-teens and is just a parody of school life, not a point scoring game where more points are awarded for being more aggressive to other pupils or teachers.
The thing is, Rockstar have it down to a T. They know that their games are controversial, so they play on it within the media. The media then give it free advertising and make it sond more appealing by grossly overexaggerating the content of the game, compelling more people to buy it.
