...::What If… The ‘Third Place’ Were Discovered?::...

Most people thought ‘The Third Place’ was just baffling ad agency waffle. That was until a bottle was washed up on a beach near Adelaide with a shocking revelation inside…

[The following piece of writing is taken from a letter believed to have been written by a renowned British explorer, who went missing in 1925]

“…It was then that the ice beneath me gave way and I fell. Just before I blacked out I remember hitting water. It was warm… When I came to I was disorientated. I seemed to be lying in a low bed in a temple of oriental origin. And not three feet away, sitting cross-legged on the upended hilt of a precariously balanced sword was a warrior with a demonic, skeletal visage. Noticing I was frightened half to death, he offered an apology, stood up and proffered a bony handshake. “Allow me to introduce myself,” he said gently, “My name is Yoshmitsu.”

What follows is true, I swear, although I could scarcely believe my own eyes. Following Yoshimitsu outside I was greeted by an amazing vista. A subterranean cavern spread out before me, lit from high above by powerful lamps that created an artificial daylight. But instead of a bleak landscape of rock and ice there was illuminated a patchwork of lush vegetation, deserts, lakes and clusters of outlandish buildings linked by a maze of roads and paths.

“Am I dead?” I enquired. “No, that doesn’t happen here,” my host replied. “Come, let me show you around.” We passed through a large courtyard where a group of athletes were engaged in the martial arts including a panda, kangaroo and several enthusiastic young ladies with scandalously proportioned physiques. (Quite Mesmerising!) We then climbed aboard a large, yellow automobile driven by an impatient young fellow who didn’t state his name. Good job too as he managed to kill five people on the journey while driving at the same time. “Liberty City please!” I called to him and we were on our way.

Oh what sights I encountered as we hurtled our way through a valley. Every odd second I could spot something curious, all floating about the ground. Gems, crystals and oversized pieces of fruit were accompanied by an orange-furred creature that was jumping into boxes and shooting apples from a bazooka! Then, with a deep evil laugh, he was zapped into a silverfish sphere.

Suddenly there was voice shouting, “Nice one, Claire!” To my right was a friendly game of soccer but there seemed to be no rules and the players, both men and women, were being carried off on stretchers every few minutes. But when a decomposing body dug its way from the ground and went after the goalkeeper, Claire, she turned and drew a high-tech pistol of some short and blew the creatures limbs apart. A little further down the road, hundreds of people were looting shops and breaking tables and such over one another. We bypassed this quickly!

As we screeched through the outskirts of the city I demanded to be told how this remarkable place remained a secret from the world outside. “Your people are not ready for use yet. But we have left instructions in your realm that someday will make this place known to everyone, instructions for a device.

I asked Yoshimitsu what he meant by this, he smiled. “Look.” He pointed ahead. There, in the centre of the busy square was a huge monument. A large black slab, ribbed along its width, with two titles near its summit. One blue and one green. And inscribed at the bottom was ‘Next-Gen’. What could this mean?…

“Come,” said my host, “Lara is dying to meet a fellow countryman after all this time…”

I have discovered the third place. I was sitting in my dark room when the screen suddenly glowed green. Then I was zapped into the TV...

Thanks for all the kudos guys. And all the stuff about not dying, then running over people. Well, it is the Third Place. It's weird and wacky, yet beautifully WONDERFUL.

Expect the unexpected...

That was a really good post! Although, I did notice one thing that confused me.

“Am I dead?” I enquired. “No, that doesn’t happen here,” my host replied.

That's ok, until...

We then climbed aboard a large, yellow automobile driven by an impatient young fellow who didn’t state his name. Good job too as he managed to kill five people on the journey while driving at the same time.

First of all, Yoshmitsu says that dying doesn't happen there. Does he mean that YOU can't die or no one can? If no one can, then how did the yellow auto driver kill 5 peeps?

Sorry for pointing this out, especially if I'm wrong, 'cos it's a really good post...!

The third place will never be discovered, because it doesn't exist... meaning that Sony have been participating in a false advertising scam for years and should be brought to justice.
