"If the engine has as many holes as the films, you won't even be able to boot it up."
Now, I went to investigate and typed 'minority report plot holes' in. Up came a huge thread on some discussion site about the film, and it's many plot holes. Now, I warn you in advance not to go on if you have not seen the film/read the book...
One big one was why was there not a ball with Lamarr's name on it for the killing of Ann Lively. I thought this was because the vision was discarded as an echo, and so the ball was not made. However, there was more...such as how they could conduct a trial in DC. Do the pre-cogs only see visions within that specific area? Does somebody have to sit through thousands of other murders that WILL HAPPEN and just pull out DC ones to stop? I couldn't explain that one. Then of course there's the thing about how the pre cogs don't predict rape and a-ssault (stupid censor), but Agatha knows what to do in the mall (there were other crappy bits in there like the 'he knows, don't go home' line).
Then there's how his eyes still work to get into the temple, when he's public enemy number goddamn one...plus the guy in charge of the halo place is scared by John's wife pulling a gun on him, yet with the precogs you shouldn't really be scared of guns anymore.
Oh, and of course some smart a-ss pointed out the plot hole that PEOPLE CANNOT PREDICT THE FUTURE.
End of spoilers.
Anyways, this has pretty much made me enjoy the film a lot less than I did. I'm planning on reading the book soon, which apparently doesn't have as many holes...
But this bugged me. A perfectly good film, ruined. A few things that I hadn't even thought about have now made me think how badly constructed the film was. Has this ever happened to you guys? You see a great film, and because of something or other you begin to hate it?
This is what I have to say (I just found it really ridiculous when watching it).
When the old woman is telling him that he must go into Pre-Crime to get to Agatha, they made it seem like Mission Impossible (where he has to get into CIA headquarters). That left you expecting a really good infiltration scene. What you didn't expect was a back door leading straight into the 'temple'.
