Just a small query, bu it's worrying me..

I've currently got an ADSL modem that's woking fine, but yesterday we were having problems with the telephone on the same line (attached via the filter) and it wouldn't make outgoing calls. After trying to get it to work for a fair time I decided to try the spare filter that had come with the modem and once I had replaced it everything worked again.

So my question is, are the filters depletable in anyway? I've noticed that filters are sold individually and was wondering if I'm going to have to replace it every few months or so, or did I just have a one off fault with the filter?

Thanks

Depletion = A gradual degradation in the performance of an object.

Thus something wouldn't just deplete and become broken, it would get gradually less effective. What you mean is:

"Well they could have worked, then broken."

Don't you just hate those damn depletable things made of 40 or so wires soldered together in a plastic casing? I'm going through 12 light switched a week over here.

I borrowed my friends splitter while waiting for mine to arrive. His was bust, only half of it worked, the modem bit.

So I guess they are depletable.
