eek, just realised I know little about cables, I need to know if an UDMA cable 100 or 66 doesn't matter, can run on an ATA100/133 :s and does it rely on the motherboard or the hdd? any help will be much apreciated.

Just read my post and realised that i said the ata 66\100 cables have 80 pins not 40 but they actually do have 40 "pins" and 80 wires as 40 of the wires are earth's, the Udma 33 and lower cables also have 40 pins but only 40 wires.
