The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
Please don't take this the wrong way. I don't wish to have a go at X-box fans. This could've happened in any forum by any member. It's just that in the most recent case, a certain member of these forums has decided that I, and many other Nintendo fans, should not be allowed to post in the Microsoft forum. Why ever not? I registered her over two years ago on the understanding that we have freedom of speech and only have to follow a few simple rules. Yet certain members decide to take things too far and spoil the fun.
I've got nothing against people having their opinions. I wouldn't be offended if any of you really disagreed with my own opinions. What I am against is people saying 'No, you have no right to voice your opinions against the things I like'. Why-ever not? I'm sure not everyone liked the Legend of Zelda cartoon series, but in 1990 it was my favourite cartoon! Infact, even N64/NGC magazine have once slated it, stating how annoying they thought it. Did I email them telling them they had no right to say that? No. The magazine has just as much right to dislike the cartoon series as I have to like it, and no one has the right to silence us about our opinions.
Members like these don't deserve our respect. Most people I will respect their likes and dislikes, whether they agree with me or not, but there are a certain view who cannot return the favour. If this is how the next generation of gamers is going to be, I thank my lucky stars I'm a 17-yr old gamer who has enjoyed gaming since the days of the Sinclair consoles and doesn't have to be associated with the minority of idiots.
So why am I posting about this here? Basically, the point in this topic is to point out that idiots still believe they know better than everyone else, that they can control who enters and exits each forum. I just wish the maturity of these people would increase. Most definately, the people reading this topic wont be the ones I'm talking about. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing by the length and the type, it wont be the kind the idiots in question will read. So if you do spot anyone trying to dictate on these forums, please set them straight. After all, these are only harmless forums, why should trouble be caused over our opinions?
This seems to be a hot topic at the moment. Not newbies, but conflicts between users of the site.
