The "Xbox Games" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
One thing I took pride in is that I was contributing to what was probably one, if not THE best forum on this site. Of course you got the odd fanboy come in here and spout a load of crap, but overall it was a pretty sound forum.
Lately there seems to be newer members that are looking to make a name for themselves or are just looking for a lame arguement.
The last thing I and plenty of other long running posters on here wanna see is this forum end up like some of the other spam filled forums.
I'm not saying that anyone should leave, but some certainly need to get their act together and put some more effort into their posts.
For anyone new, theres a few points you might want to consider.
Don't start a new thread thats going to be like 2 sentances long, its just a waste. If you want to make a statement about a game with little description about it, post it in the longest thread - thats what its there for.
Its not a crime for someone who owns another console other than the X-Box to come in here. Some of these posters add some good discussions to this forum and personally, I'd hate to see a lot of them go.
If someone comes in and starts coming up with stupid comments (look for Rinoa's posts for good examples), then obviously its going to get people wound up. But if your going to reply, then make sure you don't just sink to their level and start stamping your feet with equally stupid comments, otherwise all that happens is that you then get people having a go at you. Reply with a decent backed up post.
Don't write things in a way that your forcing your view onto others. You might prefer the games on one console over another, but tastes vary. Again its not a crime to think the games on one console are better than anothers, but write it out in a way so that your saying it on the basis of your own opinion. Writing it out as though its strict fact for everyone isn't going to get you a lot of friends.
Text talk is a big no around here. You don't have to be perfect at English, but make sure you write things so that other posters can understand what your saying.
The easiest way to get people to hate you is to go around ranting how a console "sucks", "is stupid", "deserves to fail", "is crap", etc.
If you're looking to be a respected poster, you'll want to construct a half decent post so that although you might not share the same views as others, you at least write in a way so that they can see your point of view.
Swearing at people in your posts doesn't make you grown up, if anything, it can get you banned so watch what you say.
Liking one console over the others doesn't make you a fanboy. What DOES make you a fanboy is when you refuse to hear anything negative about the console you own. I own an X-Box and I have also owned a PS2 and GC recently (owned loads of consoles over the years though). I sold my GC because personally, it didn't appeal to me.
When I said anything negative about the console though I said it in a way so that other posters could always see it as purely my view and that I wasn't trying to speak on behalf of everyone. You don't see the likes of Tiltawhirl arguing with me very often because although we don't have the same tastes, we understand eachothers views.
PLEASE try to avoid console war topics, a lot of posters have been here for ages and its a subject thats getting very boring and repetitive.
Theres plenty that can be talked about without having to constantly resort to X-Box vs GC vs PS2 type topics.
Obviously I can't dictate how everyone is going to act in here, but if you want to be seen as a decent poster and not constantly answering to negative posts about you, then these are points you'll want to consider.
I do like a heated debate, but hate biased ones aswell >:-(
I own a Dreamcast; I buy the odd game to play on my brother's PS2; I'll probably buy a GameCube sometime in the future; and of course I own an XBOX.
There's nothing wrong with people disagreeing and stating why they disagree, just as long as we keep it reasonably sensible and free of mindless insults.
Nice one Savatt, amte.
> that was a quality speech man :-D
Shame you can't follow it and not turn posts into console wars topics by saying everyone who likes other consoles has no right to be here!
