At first I thought, 'great idea' as I have been saying for a long time that our players do play too much football.
But will it really be feasible for the season to be extended (thus eating into any preparation time for international tournaments) and for the F.A.Cup to be resceduled?

Exactly what I think. The increasing wage demands of stars is just greedy. If clubs cannot last then why spend so much on players wage demands?
Some of the competitions are already being scaled down (Champions League), so they really do not need a winter break.
I've read that "it will eat into the end-of-season, giving players less time to recover from injury", but that's rubbish; with a mid-season break, they probably wouldn't get so many iunjuries anyway.
It has been said that lower divisions play more games with playoffs and all that, but you only have to watch them to see that they're not playing at the same level as the top clubs. For the most part, the Premiership games are harder, faster and generally more instense than anywhere else - that's why it's considered one of the toughest and best leagues to play in.
Also, while I would agree that they are paid far too much, I don't see how money has any bearing on the subject. It doesn't matter how much you earn, it doesn't make it pysically any easier to put in the effort required.
So let them have their 2 or 3 weeks - it may even lead to some players being around for longer in the long run. It's not going to be the end of the world. I mean, if you have nothing else to fill the gap when there's no footy on TV, you must have a very sad life indeed.
I fail to see how teams making profits in the millions can claim that they don't have the squad to last a season of continuous football.
What they should do is stop paying players like Beckham £100k per week, and instead get 2-3 players on £50k per week, and hey presto, added stamina.
If players like Beckham want to be greedy, they can go abroad and do so. I really don't see why we should pay wages like that just so they can complain that they can't handle playing football for a few months without getting tired.
And I don't see the logic in making the premiership smaller, it's already 4 teams shorter than the Nationwide leagues, who also manage fairly well with no winter break despite their greater number of fixtures.
Well, definitley against the top European Leagues - there are just too many big games in 10 months for the big names to play in on a consistant basis. And we get a lot of bad weather during Winter also, so if pitches got frozen over during the 3/4 week break fixtures wouldn't get moved around.
The only bad thing about this is how it'll extend the season - and take it one step closer to the start of a new World Cup or other International Tournament. Then again, I spose you could move the World Cup further back, but then that could clash with OTHER leagues and OTHER competitons worldwide! :(
It's worldwide problems like that have caused FIFA to leave it all as it is.

I agree
but if we take two teams from the premiership, then two more teams will go in the nation wide. and there is already enough in each of those leagues.
Its only been a few weeks since the world cup finished and i'm missing football already. I need football every week. I would hate a winter break...
What they should do is just pay the players less and use the extra money to build bigger squads to deal with the fixtures...We(the fans) should get a bigger say in this becasue we are the idiots that pay thier wages...
