All my mates have X'Box's and i have a Ps2 and they all think and say that i have the worst console out, and i wanna know whatevery1 else thinks? I have never played a X-Box and i dont want to but i wanna see how many people respond to this and then i can show him and prove to him that the Ps2 is better than the X-Box that is if it is better, but my replies should prove that!
Look, the 'power' of the consoles has no bearing on which is better. The Mega Drive had far inferrior 'power' to the SNES and the N64 had greater 'power' than the PS, yet all 4 of these consoles were amazing.
The only important thing about a console is the games on it. Currently the PS2 has a great range of games, esp big name titles. The Xbox has lots of hardcore original games coming out (Tekki, Jet Set, Halo etc..) so that's also a great console. Meanwhile the GC has the most refreshing mix of original games and established brands. All 3 consoles are superb, and the one that's best for you is just dependent on what games you like- NOT how powerful they are.

i have both consoles too and as joinercus says both consoles ROCK.
ps2 has far more games (naturally) and they are of a different style to the xbox ones (when i say this i am comparing their best games)...
most of the best xbox games are sorta arcadey
ps2 has loadsa classic games in virtually all genres
you're not onto a loser getting a ps2...but getting a xbox is also a bonus too :D

You should know the XBox os more powerful and the PS2 is weaker! Anyway, I own both consoles and it ain't bothering me. Save up your money and you will me glad to have both. Not a cr** post after all, is it?
