wright. who thinks that in 20 years when we've got a hole new team we'll still be in the top 10 team of the world?

I believe that we are better than Germany and Argentina.
But not teams like Brazil, Italy and France.

England seem a bit like Liverpool. Youth, experiance, talent, defensively sound (now anyway) and sometimes a little dull, but they get the job done.
And of course horribly inconsistent.

It may sound like that if you look at it that way, but England aren't even close to being 2nd best in the world.
And as much as I hate to agree with Ortega ;op I don't believe we could whup Turkey. Or South Korea for that matter.
In fact, there were many teams that went out of the World Cup before us who I believe would beat England if we played them.
The problem with England is that we have very good players from various clubs, none of whom play particularly well as a team.
And - just like in tennis - our very best players are decidedly average when viewed alongside the best from elsewhere in the world.
