I read in official Nintendo Magazine today that Nintendo have introduced a new shorter games policy. This to me makes no sense whatsoever. Rogue Leader only hd 10 missions, Pikmin has 5, and don't even get me started on Spider-Man, WHAT IS GOING ON?
There relly is no point to this. When making games SPECIFICALLY for kids then it is understandable. But the games mentioned above are for the older kids and adults as well. Hardcore gamers and people who pay for games with their own money need long games, games that will keep them going for a while.
If Nintendo keeps this up then I'm afraid they'll get a reputation for it. *sigh* t least I can be assured that Resident Evil will last me a long time.

I also think Nintento are being very crafty cause if you play a shoryer game and finish it then you will need to buy another game to play. So my view is theese shorter games are so people will boost game sales farther bye buying other games. Then they bring out the Big guns so to speak.

Mario sunshine should be as long as Mario 64 which is all good and Starfox is gonna be hella long. Eternal Darkness has about 50 hrs of gameplay. Zelda's gonna be massive, Animal Crossing is gonna be 4 times the size of Zelda OOT. Infact the only short game I can think of is supposedly Wario World, but other than that they're all hella long.

Mario Sunshine is supposed to be long though innit?

Starfox Adventures is supposed to be pretty long as well...Remember a while back that it could be as long as 60 hours?

Anyway, Nintendo aint the only ones making short games. MGS2 could be completed in under 10 hours and you got loads of other short games on other consoles. Just can remember off the top of my head that Silent Hill 2 and Devil May Cry that can be completed in under 10 hours as well...

I think the reason for Ninty making games shorter is becasue they just cant afford to spend so much time developing each game. Especially with Profits expected to dip in the next year because of the price war with Sony/Microsoft.

Nintendo didn't make Rogue Leader or SPider-man so it's got nothing to do with them.

A game like Rl lasts for a long time if you want it too, with all the medals, extra levels and ships. Nintendo have introduced this policy, because they want to appeal to a wider audience who sadly want shorter games that take up less time. Nintendo are still making superb games, just shorter. However, Starox, Mario, Zelda and Metroid are looking like they will be long games (Mario Sunshine is apparently about as long as Mario 64)
and so they are providing a mix.
