Right, first I want to explain why I haven't been on here much recently, its not that I don't like you guys anymore, its just that I am now working in London.....and living in Worthing (near Brighton) which means that over 4hrs of my day are spent travelling, add to that the 9-10 I spend working, and I haven't had much time to get on here recently, hopefully that will change in the next few weeks......so tough!

Anyway, to the gig....

Friday 5th July, London Astoria, 7:30

The place was packed out. The queue stretched all the way round the venue, and we even had the complimentary Christian with his bald head and megaphone telling us that we would all go to hell and that Nicholas himself was going to be in there that night......well if he was he had his a%% rocked off as well!

At about 8, the lights went down, the crowd cheered. Then Dave Grohl walked onto the stage. Yes I did say Dave Grohl, as in Nirvana, Foo Fighters, and now part-time drummer for The D. His introduction went like this:

DG: Good evening London.
Crowd: Cheers
DG: The band you are about to see asked me to join them...
Crowd: Cheers
DG: ...but I said no....
Crowd: Boos
DG: ...because I was worried I might get my a%% blown out! I give you....TENACIOUS D

At this point there is still only two stools and two mikes on stage, no drum kit, no amps, no nothing. I was waiting for Grohl and his drumkit to rise out of the floor, for a bass-line to kick in. It never did.

Jack Black and Kyle Gass walked onto the stage, they carried two acoustic guitars, and they rocked our socks off! I wouldn't have thought it possible to really mosh to two acoustic guitars, but they managed to get us doing it.

I can't really describe a lot of what went on, I'd get kicked off by SR, and rightly so! I can tell you there were three movies in the show, the first had JB and KG trying to sell their sperm so that someone could continue their legacy, the second involved KG giving birth to a b&%$-baby, and the last involved....well actually I can't really even describe it!

Add to this an opening song of Flash Gordon, every song from their album, a couple of new songs, loads of banter, great singing, great guitar from KG and an amazing atmosphere, and this was one of the best gigs I've been to.

They said they'll be back....I believe them - DON'T MISS IT NEXT TIME (Stryke - this means you!)

Oh I promised them, if I ever get within striking distance again, I'm taking him out.
For the sake of mopey shoe-gazing teens everywhere, think of the years of miserable dirge-tunes they could miss with one well-timed rabbit punch.

He speaks like a 'tard as well.

Starsailor make me feel physically sick.

If there's a next time don't listen to other people, get the silly whiny man right in the voice box, and that should put an end to his whinging.

And on a related issue: "Blah blah blah you've got your daddy's eyes/ Daddy was an alcoholic" is NOT the greatest lyrical construction ever created.

I was almost allowed to punch that whiny fakk from Starsailor when he was at one of our gigs, but my boys said "No, that would be a bad thing".

So I didn't.
I just ignored the hell out of him, and I think he could tell.

Grrrrr

I was there too, up on the balcony. And I have to say that I wasn't too impressed. I mean some stuff was good, but it was the same thing over and over and over again. Jack Black is a funny guy, and I'd rather have payed to hear maybe a few songs and just stand up comedy for the rest of the time, but instead they had to play similar song after similar song, and it got boring after a while.

I was pretty disappointed. But I got to meet Dave Grohl. So naaaahhhh! :-)
