Is a girl, aged 19. Weird (or is it?) I've known her for a few years now, and its weird that I never considered her to be a very close friend of mine. She is. We make each other laugh, we get on really well, and we generaly talk about a lot of stuff, and its all really friendly. Most people seem to 'expect' your best friend to be of the same sex, and same age. Sure, I have plenty of friends my own age and sex, or of the opposite sex, but I am also friends with her older brother, who is about 21/22. It just seems a little peculiar that this assumption exists - my brothers best friend is a boy only a year younger, yet I am best friends with a girl three years (nearly 4) older than me..........odd or not?

the assumption exists because adolescents have trouble keeping a plutonic relationship with a member of the opposite sex.

if you're not careful (or perhaps if you're lucky) there could be more to the relationship than there is at present...

Of course theres a little sexual tension.....(! - There is between most teenage members of the opposite sex) but i don't want to change anything.

It's better to have a friendly relationship with a girl than go out with her if there's even a small chance she'll say 'No' because if she does the friends relationship will deterioate, be worse or be over.

I've been lucky in that respect. Twice :D

Like I said, I don't want to change the friendship - And I doubt she does wants to change it.

lucky in what respect? that you DIDN'T get laid? Don't you see where you're going wrong?

No it's a short but uninteresting story. I ask her out. She say no. I bothered for a while. Repeat. Biatch goes out with my ex-best friend. Dumps after 6 days (heh), now me and her are great friends. And it will stay like that.

But don't tell anyone I told you. :D

That friendship is perhaps more important than sex? Hopefully.

Allow me to let you in on a little secret.

When a woman says no, what she really means is "spend a bit of money on me first, and then you're in."
