Pop over to www.legendofmir.net and download the tiny 232MB client (you HAVE got cable, haven't you?). If you need a download manager go to getright.com or try another download management site.

Then go to this thread in the Mir forum:

http://217.65.66.112/showthread.php?s=&threadid=61061

which tells you any changes since the client was released and what you'll need to do to get things going.

Then you can login, pick a server (Dragon is the oldest, has the most people, the most killers, the most idiots and the most scammers), create a character (warrior recommended for beginners, wizard recommended if you like zapping stuff from a distance but getting killed easily), grab a big stick, and kill people.
(Until you get to level 8, then you got to get your credit card out).

NEVER give out your username and password to ANYONE ingame.

This is the reason why I have Norton loaded and ZoneAlarm. ZA wont let any program you dont want to go in or out of the internet and i found norton kills trojans dead or isolates them.

'Fraid so, that's why you see so many 'I've been HACKED' threads on online game forums. The commonest ways people get your password are by offering links to cheats (speed cheats, godmodes, invincibility, 100% success rates etc), and the cheats you download contain a trojan or backdoor virus which sends your username/passwords straight back to the hacker. 100s of Mir players fell for this one.

Then there's the con-artists who'll 'level you up overnight' and 'configure your account' or the GameMaster impersonators who come up to you saying 'We need your details as there's a problem with your account' etc. People fall for it all the time. Even GameMasters will never request your password.
