Emotions have to be a cornerstone of the typical 'human'. Everything we do is influenced by one of any number of emotions working individually or collectively. But emotions are both beneficial and inhibitive if you think about it. Without emotions we would be able to achieve so much more - no fear to hold us back, no anger to blur our judgement or provoke conflict - the list goes on. Without emotion we would be able to make the distinction between something that is truly good for us or bad for us. For example, upon seeing a cake on the kitchen table we would consider its immediate nutritional value rather than emotional significance - we would no longer eat it because we 'love' the taste of frosting or have a few moments of 'contentment' when its in our mouth, stimulating our taste buds. Nor would we consider eating it out of 'indignation' or 'hate' for the world around us for making us feel obliged not to eat unhealthy foods and achieve a perfect body.
Ok, maybe this is a fairly trivial example. But the next time you do something, think about it completely stripped of emotions and think of the outcome that would result.

The problem with emotional apathy (which is to say "not giving a sh*t), is that emotions feed our moral values.

If you throw emotion out the window, the book of morality quickly follows. If you have no emotion, what's to s**top you thinking that the mos**t logical route to success is the killing of those who s**tand in your way? It's a s**traightforward s**tep up ladder, you jus**t have to make sure you don't get caught. The lives you're taking won't matter, or their families, or anyone else afflicted by your actions. you won't feel any turmoil, since you are an emotional s**tone. No fear, no care. Jus**t do it.

Take away emotion and what do you have left? Jus**t your base human ins**tincts. Survive. Breed. Succeed. If the entire human race were so, there would be precious few of us left by now.
