So what is the real future of gaming? And I do not mean what is the best console because that is the here and now. I mean what is the true future of the PC.
Will it be that the desk top computers we know and love disappear; will all computers become more like laptops?
There is no question that today’s laptops are very powerful and can almost compete with there desktop counter parts but the one thing they still lack is graphics power though they are slowly catching up. I believe that today’s graphics laptops compare with the original geforse cards which is still power enough to run most of today’s games. A laptop is generally light and even the biggest laptops can be carried around even just for a short while. Try that with a desk top.
There is also a PDA which is extremely light weight and can fit into a pocket but even though it can play some odd games and do word processing etc it does not have the power to compete with its bigger siblings.
So what does the future hold? It may not be one of these paths but VR where you could have a whole computer in a visor and everything is in 3D. This has already happened but is still expensive.
What if you could have a whole computer in the size of the pocket watch, imagine having a computer on your wrist. Well in truth to a point this is already beginning it is also possible to have a TV on your wrist. So imagine having a whole computer, a T.V., and an electronic video all in one on your wrist
The Game boy Advance is currently the worlds most powerful pocket games machine, it holds more power the then SNES ever did, but what if you could have ten times that power in your pocket and not only have a 2 dimensional screen but a 3 dimensional screen. Imagine playing Golden sun in 3d from your pocket games machine and then if you get bored watch 3d TV.
It maybe that the machine will no longer do just one thing but several things at once, like I’ve already said certainly TV and almost certainly video too.
It really is exciting to think what computer will one day be able to do and that future may not be that far off.
