I've knocked up a personal site, partly just because i wanted to make a site, partly because once i run off some real content, i can reference it as an online cv in early training application blah blah...
Anyway, once i can afford photoshop elements i'll anti-ailisasisize the text in images, and there'll be real content in a while, but otherwise, this is pretty much what i was aiming for.
And so i'm in search of opinions, advice and constructive criticism, if anyone cares to help...

much appreciated
1. You need to create a margin for that text. There are various ways to do it, I'll tell you them once I'm not rushing to catch a taxi to Manchester Airport in 3 hours. Or, I'm sure somebody else will fill you in.
2. For your graphics it may be worth taking the GIMP for a spin (www.gimp.org). It looks like digital doggy marmite, is about as friendly as the real gimp, but it's free and can do nearly anything Photoshop can do if you put the hours in (including use Photoshop plugins). You'll probably never use it much. but you'll find you can create a clone of that logo, but with anti-aliasing and nicer effects, in about half an hour.
