Sega have just announced the end of Dreamcast but no sign of a new console.That really gets to me, it's not as if dreamcast is the most popular console so they can just stop!They should start again and compete with PS2 and Gamecube!

In case you hadn't noticed, there are 3 consoles now: PS2, GameCube and XBOX.
SEGA are now focusing their talents on producing games for all the current consoles in an attempt to make a profit.

No offense, but its old news that Sega are no longer making consoles.

I theory, Sega's change to software should have been great. They simply can't compete against the market presence of the PS2- not because the games are lacking, but because they can't compete against the brand name.
So, imagine if Seg could take the brilliance of the games they'd created for the Staurn and DC (yes, the Saturn was poor, but the actual games were amazing! NiGHTS! Panzer Dragoon. Fighting Vipers...) and put them on other consoles then they were bound to do well.
However, all they seem to be doing is ports any quick flicks. Why? Sega have one of the biggest in house dev teams in the world, and some of the most talented designers out there. Surely they should be working on new, original, epic and outstanding titles. Perhaps next year will be more profitable for them!

With one move, Sega went from a floundering hardware company to one of the most powerful and influential software companies.

since Sega has sold the license of allmost all their games to every new console, there is no point in making a console and game right away. they should wait a year or two, let the money build, let technology advance and then start thinking about a new console, until then, why bother?
If SEGA did make another console instead of going multi-format, chances are they would be declared bankrupt.
