Due to some new developments which need services Freeola don't currently provide, I need to move the site to another host.
The site is uploaded there now, currently accessible through a temporary URL, and I have the details of the new name servers so that I can update them via the UKreg.com control panel.
I know that I will need to edit the Admin, Technical and Billing contact information for the domain, but is there anything else I need to do with regards to Freeola before I change the name server details?

I don't want to post it here as SR won't like it, but if you want to mail me - [email protected] - I'll give you the paid company I've moved to, are are based in the US, but are dirt cheap.

Further thoughts on this - I also have a domain name for a small local company I used to manage but now act as webmaster but having updated to broadband and removed the modem I am now unable to edit my site. Now that Freeola are starting a broadband service are they still going to stick to the dial-up connection system for access. This seems old-fashioned now that U.K is slowly catching up with the rest of the world.
Any suggestions to a hosting firm where I can transfer to if necessary. I do not need another ISP.
Cheers mate!
Simple :-)

Domain Hosting: Transferring A Domain Away From Freeola/GetDotted
If you have a Domain Name registered via Getdotted, whether or not it's hosted at Freeola, we can transfer the Domain to another provider for a small administration fee (currently £10.00 excluding VAT per Domain).
Please note that transfers away from Freeola/GetDotted are absolute. We do not retain any involvement or control of your domain name and your new service provider will be totally responsible for it's management.
To initiate a domain transfer away, please complete our Domain Transfer Away form. Please complete this form in full, sign and send by fax to 0870 725 9988 or by post to GetDotted Transfers, Inter-Mediates Ltd, 2 South Block, The Maltings, Sawbridgeworth, Herts, CM21 9JX.
If you do not have a printer and require a copy of this form sent via post, please contact our Customer Support Centre on 0870 725 9977.

So, as my domain was originally registered through UKreg and not GetDotted, and all the details are still changed via the UKreg control panel, and all I did to transfer it to Freeola (apart from paying £10 + VAT) was update some contact details and the name servers, does this mean I can simply change the name servers and update the details?

Flags? Is this something that can't be done via the UKreg control panel? It's probably already obvious, but I don't know all the ins-and-outs of this DNS business.
According to the e-mail I got from the new company, all I need to do is change the nameservers to theirs. They also give the opportunity to create subdomains, so they're quite flexible.
> Is it a high-traffic site?
It has the potential to be, as there is a mirror site for the UltraEdit text editor, which has had 11,000+ hits and files of a few megabytes downloaded.
> Why don't you host it yuorself?
Hosting myself is not an option - the NTL TOS potentially limits outgoing traffic (which the mirror site generates a lot of), and apart from that, my PC is not always on.
If any of the relevant SR staff are reading this, I'd appreciate info on what I need to do on this to get it moved, as my temporary URL only lasts for 30 days.
Is it a high-traffic site? I'm talking more than 3 people accessing at any one time here. Why don't you host it yuorself? Go to dyndns.org and find out what the flags need changing to, and then you use software and their service to update the domain to point to your own IP. It's all free!
Self-hosting is the way forward I think.

I have moved to a US company who offer an amazing amount for the equivalent of £6 a month. This includes:
250Mb web space
25Gb bandwidth per month
Custom error pages
250 POP mail accounts
Broadband FTP uploads over existing connection
And, importantly for me, the ability to set up up to 10 FTP accounts for different people, each being restricted to only a certain area of the website.
I know you aren't a charity but it seems that there is little point registering with Freeola if you use, as I do, Blueyonder boardband to connect to the internet. I have registered two domains with your good selves but I have had to resort to fowarding to free accounts such as Tripod for web hosting as i can't upload onto your servers unless I dial up. I would be happy to pay a (reasonable) hosting fee but you haven't given that option yet. Are you going to? An account with a monthly fee would be smashing for, say, 25MB of web space.
