Following in the line of various 'what if's and spoof-sequels, Konami decided to hand over development of a new Metal Gear game to Nintendo, in order for a 2003 release on the GameCube. Rather than develope a mature game for the GameCube, which would result in all but 3 copies being sold, Konami wanted Nintendo to give it that younger appeal. Not to change the game entirely, but to just 'familiarise' it with Nintendo's tried and tested and tested and tested appeal. Konami insisted on the game being called Metal Gear Integral, but Nintendo promptly added the 'Super' prefix and 'Deluxe' to the title in order to appeal to a younger generation.

As such, details are fairly scarce regarding the game, but sources close to Nintendo have revealed a few fairly shocking details.

First up, Nintendo have totally remade Solid Snake. No longer is he a mulleted, cool and mature hero, but now he is a stumpy, super deformed man wearing dungarees and a moustache. Diehard fans still refer to him as Solid Snake, but Nintendo have insisted that he be tagged merely Snake. While not really a revalatory matter, it was purposefully put in place in order for the baddie nemesis boss man to be called 'WaSnake'. Nintendo though that WaSolid Snake didn't really fit the bill.

In terms of character capabilities, Snake has gained various abilities. These include a new jump for Snake. This brilliant jump feature will allow Snake to reach high up platforms, and kill enemies by bouncing on their heads. This will also allow him to perform various acrobatic stunts such as a wall jump, double backflip and crouching high jump. Nintendo were keen to stress that this wouldn't deter the now famous tactical espionage gameplay, but word is that Konami is desperately trying to re-route Nintendo's gameplay 'strategy'.

Also included are the new powerups that Snake can gain. Among these are the Metal Bandana, the Wing Bandana, the Invisible Bandana and the fabled, unconfirmed and totally made-up 'Squirt Bandana'. This squirt bandana can supposedly propel Snake to new hights and let him clear up puddles of oil left by careless terrorists.

The main new gameplay feature though for Super Metal Gear Integral Deluxe is the 'tactical espionage' bit. Nintendo SAID it would be in there, but they told a lie and it isn't. Snake is now performing in a tactical platformer action game. The tactics come in when inplementing newly added amazing features such as the amazing ability to hang off ledges and look around corners. Truly an evolution in Nintendo gameplay.

As stated earlier, details are very scarce, but don't be surprised if Konami can this one. While it is being developed by master developers, some people think it could be a wrong decision. Metal Gear is a very volatile mixture, and if fallen into the wrong hands it could be disastrous. And one thing we don't want to see is Snake jump about knocking Koopa Troopa's on the head.

Super Metal Gear Integral Deluxe is scheduled for release on the 29th February next year. Put it in your diary.
