Sometimes you almost feel glad you're on 56k...The main thing that irritates me about 56k is when I'm playing Renegade or Wolfenstein online and I either get completely disconnected or get pulled back, the other thing is when people say no 56ks in their game, that peeves me off so I join it anyway. BT's support, and everything is truly shocking.

My friends have had problems with BT. Basically they had the simple problem of sending thousands of dud CDs out. The only problem is that the CD installs properly and says there's no problem. This could have been easily sorted if they'd have emailed everyone warning them that dud CDs had been sent out, but no - they keep you waiting in a helpline for 2 hours (luckily, some other friends were round his house too, we did it in shifts) and give a hourendous phone bill. What's more infuriating is that they could easily have had a recorded message telling you, which would have meant the call was over in 10 seconds...but that's BT for you.

BT are really bad. My friend's had problems with them in the past with Internet related stuff. Anyway, he did that BT/Freeserve thing a year or two ago, now. He ordered his phoneline for the place he was about to move into, ENQUIRED about the prices of the BT/Freeserve thing and that was all fine...So, when it came round to setting up his Freeserve Internet, he was told he had already been signed up, so he phoned BT and explained to them that he had never actually signed up (they'd never even bothered to send him details so that he had a password, number to dial, etc so that he knew they had signed him up without his knowledge), but merely enquired and was told to cancel his internet deal with BT and they would re-order it for him, so that in two days time he could go online and it would all be sorted out and he would be getting flat rate internet. Spiffy! A month later a phone bill appeared through his door for £100 or so saying it was all Internet charges. So, he called BT up again and explained what had happened and he couldn't believe it when the woman said it was Freeserve's fault! So, he called Freeserve (who were really good about it) who said that they were in no way responsible and that BT were infact the responsible party and had mucked up. Freeserve appologised for this, even though they didn't have to. He then went back to BT and told them this and all they did was appologise. He got absolutely no form of compensation. Grr!

I hate to use all the examples, but here's another. Another mate had a similar problem. He signed up on the net for BT SurfTime (he's never at home during the day, so anytime isnt worth it), but before he did this he phoned BT to ask if all he needed to do was sign the form online and they said yes. Needless to say he apparently needed to set up some evil thing to add a further £5/month onto the bill, which was said nowhere and needless to say, he was charged £120 3 months later. BT fixed the problem when his dad got angry on the phone for them, but they couldn't reduce the charges, but they would give him £120 of free off-peak internet calls. DUH! They are paying close to £10/month for this, and they tell them that? How stupid are they?

Have you ever worked on a PC helpdesk and do you have any comprehension whatsoever of the ignorance of most people who phone up complaining that they cant plug their modem in properly? Thats what makes the whole thing so damned frustrating, complete compooting weetards get broadband access and moderatley intelligent, technicaly competent people don't. It's all a government ploy to repress the enlightened few. Damn them boody space lizards, damn them all. But even so, damn BT!

If you hold the cursor over the main picture in that article a helpful little caption comes up saying, "Woman at computer". Ah well, I thought it was amusing...I know they don't use this anymore but:

"Its Good to Talk"

Made sense. It's a damn good thing they didnt have "It's good to use the internet", because they would feel very embarrassed right now.
