I've just registered another domain name and would like to route it to the static IP address of my Freeola ADSL account. Hence, I can then access my Apache web server without having to type in the IP address from remote locations.

Could some one please let me know how this can be done? I've had a look through the control panel and the only options I can see are the DNS name server addresses, I assumed changing these to my Static address would work but after a little reading it doesn't appear that that's the case, and I've tried that anyway but they still remain as Freeola's NS1 + NS2?

Any help would be appreciated, many thanks

Sorry missed these responses somehow!

Timescale wise we're looking at a few weeks, needs a lot of testing this one!

Thanks for the reply, I was worried that I'd just spend £7 on a domain only to have to spend a further £14 on transferring it to elsewhere! The sub-domains sound great as well, I read a few other posts regarding these and got the impression they weren't on the agenda.

Have you any rough time scales for the DNS bits?

All sounds good - are the sub-domains going to be free for normal 'paid for' domains?

Hello,

You cannot do this yet but we are in the process of finalising the necessary updates to MyFreeola to allow you to point your domain to your IP or change your mail MX records.
Sub domains should also be available to those who are interested.

From what I've just found out I need to be able to change the "A Record" within Freeola's name servers to match my ADSL IP address instead of their web hosting servers IP Address. A few other domain name registrars have a control panel style feature to do this and reading Freeola's advert/info about Static IP addresses they seem to emphasise that this can be done.

Could some one let me know how please?

Over the years I've become very jaded after many bad experiences with customer services, you have bucked the trend. Polite and efficient from the Freeola team, well done to all involved.
My website looks tremendous!
Fantastic site, easy to follow, simple guides... impressed with whole package. My website looks tremendous. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to set this up, Freeola helps you step-by-step.
