well isn't this exciting?!
So what have you done to spread the word?
Do you use horsey or disabled chat rooms? If so, get in there and start this ball rolling. I have posted on the BBC Ouch site and I'm hitting the saddlers at some point to highlight the BPSJA site and the shows that are up and coming.
As disabled people we are (statistically) "financially less empowered" i.e. skint, and the dubious pleasure of horse ownership and care becomes, quite often, a daunting prospect. Add to that the rising costs of fuel and entry fees (are you watching show organisers?) then the prospect of jumping at shows with the BPSJA has a multitude of attractions.
Many years ago the Pony Club didn't require you to own a pony. (It still doesn't but where can you get one for a day?)
The BPSJA works in tandem with show organisers to help if you can't provide your own horse. What a fabulous idea. This really opens up the opportunities for disabled riders.
With a sustained effort we can be snapping at the heels of our Para dressage riders in terms of achievement. And jumping is you on the day, not what some-one else thinks!
Disability is never going to be an even playing field, we are all very different in our abilities, but the BPSJA goes some way to recognising and including us.
Recognition and inclusion. Sounds nice, huh?
Hope when I pop back there are lots of replies.
Take care All.
The Wobbler.
Unlike Dressage two different judges can give you a completely different score!!! Your result rests on the opinion of one person who could be wildly different from someone else!
Now its your opportunity to voice your opinion on the state of disabled riding in the UK, lets hear what you all really think.
I suppose, if I win a game for that wonderful contribution, I'll have to give it to you...
(You'll win now for saying that.)
You're probably right.
