ok, does any of you remember, going to the arcades, and seeing the street fighter 2 game there, and when you go and play it, its all weird n messed, like you will do a fireball, and the next thing you know, your opponent will do 2, that go wavy around each other, almost impossible to dodge (unless you me! ;) ) Anyway, the reason for this, is that most of the street fighter games (such as street fighter 2 turbo, champion edition...etc) were all cracked from the original street fighter! the programmers simply got into the game, changed some of the sprite files, and re-sold it with a couple of special features! no wonder they have SO many street fighter games! this carried on until the arrival of street fighter EX, which jus ruined the whole street fighter genre. Im a great fan of all 2d fighting games, and i just thought id share this knowledge with you, about the truth of the street fighter series.

thank you

Surely there was a widespread "cracked" SF2 in the arcades: Street Fighter 2 "Black Belt Edition" which had the crazy fireball/ sonic boom moves mentioned in the original post.
You also had the ability to switch character mid battle and play "player vesus player",which basically meant you could both be Ken. This option was previously unavailable on the SF2 arcade.

Black Belt edition was not an official Capcom release and was indeed a "cracked" version, it was illegal, cheaper than the actual version and thus appeared in many a takeaway in the early 90's.

It appeared a long time before SF2 Turbo etc. and had nack all to do with the developmeant of the series.

Good day.

Thankyou for that nonsense deeno...

As shown in "The making of Streetfighter 2" in EDGE 2/3 months back, SF2 was a completely new game compared to the first- the only thing in common was the name! Like Edgy said, the original came out years ago.

Anyway, games like SF2 Turbo and SF2 Championship were just "updates" to this, but NOT "cracks" (which implies that some people outside capcom got the source code and alterred it). That's complete nonsense- all the games were made by Capcom and it's subsiduaries.

However, more recent versions of SF and 2D fighting games have seen some interesting changes. Check out any of SNKs "latest" games.

Believe me, if it was the same as the original, it would be all black and white and all the characters bald, just like on the original I've got on the ZX Spectrum.
