Anyone else into Spanish Horror directors like Lucio Fulci, Umberto Lenzi, Rudgerro Deodato, Bruno Mattei?

If that means nothing to you how about extreme cinema classics such as Cannibal Holocaust, Zombie Flesh Eaters, House by the Cemetry, City of the Living Dead, The Beyond, Cannibal Ferox, Zombie Creeping flesh, Nightmare City, The New York Ripper, Living Dead at the Manchester Morgue?

Anyone heard of them or am I the only weirdo who likes this kinda stuff?

If you thought Scream was gory and you felt sick when you saw the Exorcist then trust me you wanna stay away from these superb pieces of Cinema. Hh and if you ever did want to see them don't get the UK versions cause they're cut to pieces and not worth seeing, import them.

Just realised I missed Dario Argento from my list, films like Suspiria, Trauma and The Bird with Crystal Plummage are Horror classics and must sees for anyone who likes a break from the normal kind of Horror.

Guillermo del Toro, the guy who did the blade films, does fairly good horror films in Spanish.

He's done Cronos, which is a classic. And more recently "The Devil's Backbone", which is very good, but it sort of raises itself above the level of a horror film. You'll know what I mean if you watch it. Some bits are definitely frightening, but once those are over it moves on to a different footing, but in a good way. (Don't want to put in any spoilers)

Amen to that. They're true horror classics, and I have 'em both on DVD, along with Evil Dead 1 + 2

They are, you just need to make sure when you buy them how cut they are. Recent UK DVD releases such as Cannibal Apocalypse, Cannibal Ferox and House by the Cemetry are rendered almost unwatchable by the amount of cuts present. I don't tend to buy UK Horror DVDs, I import them from the Continent that way I know that what I'm getting is Uncut.

From the few web-sites I've been on, the beyond seems to be a well liked horror movie, so I think I will try it out and see if is as good as everyone says it is.

I'm not going to buy it yet though, I've got a few other games and DVD's on my list to get first, but I will get sometime in the near future. It may even get me into buying more of these previously banned horror vids, after all from what I've heard, they are far from the crap standards of more recent, mainstream horror films.

Only get Ferox if it's imported, the UK version says it's uncut but is missing a hell of a lot of footage.

As long as you get the most recent version of The Beyond on DVD then it's hella good and Uncut.

I have had my eye on a few films such as the beyond and cannibal ferox, the trouble is I don't know if I will like them so that's why put off buying them. There almost unknown over here, so finding reveiws for the films is pretty hard.

That said though, I've found a site that's UK based and sells these vids, supposidly uncut as well. So now I'm considering finally getting my hands on one of these films, though I'll look around a bit first before I make any decisions.

The version on Channel 4 was tame, it was so cut it was embarassing. These are Horror classics well at least Zombie Flesh Eaters, The Beyond and Cannibal Holocaust are, they're just not as mainstream as The Thing (okay film) and Dawn of the Dead (superb film).

That's probably why I like them a lot more than most the tosh that comes out of America, getting hold of completly Uncut copys of most of these films is so hard to do, part of the fun is finding them.

If you really did think scream was gory and the exorcist sick, stay away from the horror genre completely. Two really tame, and boring so called horror films.

Anyway, I think I saw Zombie holocaust a few years back on C4, thought it was crap. Nopthing much happened for ages, and I don't know if anything did happen sinse I turned the TV off and went to bed. Still there are a couple of the films you listed which I might give a try sometime, but I'd rather stick with horror classics such as dawn of the dead and the thing.

Eraserhead makes no sense whatever way you look at it.

There's no point in watching the UK cuts of these films they miss out most the story and make little sense.
