I'm thinking of upgrading my IBM Thinkpad with a new graphics card. Currently its an old S3 Savage/IX 8MB one, are there any good 64MB+ cards which can fit in? The main body is only about 1cm thick, will it fit in?

Anyone know of a 1/2 size graphics card that'll fit into one of the IBM Thinkpad PCI slots?

I got a reply from IBM saying please go to this site to find some shops that can help you. However they didn't say whether or not anything was compatible. Ideally I'm looking at a GeForce 2 64MB+ up to the GeForce 4 Ti 4600 128MB. If anyone knows whether I can upgrade my Thinkpad T21 with any of these cards please say so!

Depends on the make/model. Just check the laptop maker's website for authorised dealers and maintenance companies in your area then contact them directly for advice.

I didnt realise you could upgrade LapTops like this... is it possible with any/all laptops, or is it dependant on system and model?

Talking of technology moving too fast...I only bought a mini Lespion camera thing the other month now there is a different one for the same price but twice better.

I kick it all.

Yup, there are companies out there that specialise in upgrading compact PCs and laptops. Best bet is to search your local IBM dealership website to get a few names then ring them for quotes. Pricey though, my last quote a year ago for upgrading my onboard 2MB gfx to 64MB gfx was £170.
