I'm sure one of the more knowledgeable people on here should be able to tell you something. I just bought a kit that invloved plugging lots of plugs together ;-)

These would only give the same output that is going to your TV speakers, but if you're not too interested in Dolby Digital or Pro Logic, you could just have the same coming out the back speakers as the front speakers, it wouldn't sound much different, but you would have a sound filling the room. But this will require the red and white outputs on the back of your TV, not all TVs have this option.
Or maybe buy some cordless headphones, which will give you the impression of a full sound, but without the noise or extra base you were talking about.
That't the only cheap option I can think of really. But after saying in my other post to you that £200 would be the ideal amount to spend on a Dolby Digital kit, there are cheaper options available for people who aren't too bothered about excellent sound quality. The cheapest is normally around £140.
Do I have your MSN? If you need to know anything, contact me by that and I should be able to answer it quicker then on here. If you don't have my MSN, I'll give it to you. But I just don't really like posting it on here (after about 20 n00bs added me last time ;-))
