"Micro Machines is finally set to make its next-gen debut with news that Infogrames are to publish a new version of the game for PS2 and Xbox.
The top-down racing series has in the past offered some of the best cartoon-style driving across everything from MegaDrive to PSone to Game Boy. The most recent outing was the disappointing Micro Maniacs, in which Codemasters foolishly replaced cars with people. Luckily, Infogrames (whose Sheffield studio is coding the game) seem to be taking the game back to its roots.
There will be a choice of eight characters, each with their own special abilities and choice of vehicles. As per the Micro Machines of old, the game supports up to four players. Infogrames also promise that the gameplay will be more varied than ever before, with a huge variety of tracks and levels in a range of different environments.
It's due out in November."
No screen shots available yet but what will they actually need to do to it to bring it up to "next gen" standards.
Obviously the graphics will have to improve and they will be able to make use of 3D.
I just hope they try and keep to the original gameplay style though because Micro Machines 3 was just pure multiplayer genius.
Cool..
I still play this game on the Mega Drive, had it on the PS1 but somehow lost it.
Anyway, yeah, hopefully they will bring it up to the next gen standards. One thing i hope they dont go for is a 4 player split screen, hope they stay with the old version of all on one screen and the looser is the one who hits the edge and so on.
