The CONSOLE KINGS!
Goalkeeper:
‘The Hand’ (Super Smash Brothers series)
Could there really be a better gaming ’keeper than a giant hand? Not only is this disembodied goal-stopping machine huge, but it has an array of attacks that are sure to destroy the ball before it can hit the back of the net.
Left Back:
Scorpion (Mortal Kombat series)
The man’s reputation precedes him, with an unmistakable air of mystery accompanying him (he wears a mask, see). On top of this, it is nigh impossible to get past this man with his sliding attacks, and blistering pace...but if you do manage to evade him, the full back can shoot a projectile out of his hand, to pull you back from the brink of glory!
Centre Back:
Duke Nukem (Duke Nukem series)
Duke is the kind of person that shoots first, and asks questions later; which makes him the perfect defensive rock of the team. If it moves, Duke’ll shoot it...if it doesn’t, he’ll shoot it anyway, just in case...nobody will be able to get past Mr Nukem in one piece, with his daunting physical presence and awesome firepower.
Centre Back (CAPTAIN):
Mario (Just about any Nintendo game!)
Team GM may have a lanky striker in Luigi, but who better to counteract the plumber than his older, and most importantly BETTER brother, Mario! Always leaving Luigi in the shadows as he stars in astounding platformers such as Mario 64 and Super Mario World, not only will Mazza’s jumping skills enable him to win the ball in the air, he’ll have the mind games down pat facing his bro. Also, as one of the oldest gaming characters EVER, Mario will bring experience and leadership to the side, winning him the captain’s armband.
Right Back:
Dhalsim (Street Fighter Series)
The Rubber Band Man of video gaming, Dhalsim’s stretchy legs will no doubt mean that even if he’s beaten for pace by an attacker, he’ll be able to reach out and swipe the ball, setting up the chance for a counter attack.
Left Wing:
Spyro (Spyro series)
This dragon will be able to literally soar past Team GM, winning all the aerial balls and flying from his own box right to the corner flag in the opposition’s half, as Sparx holds the ball. Also has a fire attack to get rid of any defenders foolish enough to try and tackle him.
Central Midfield:
Harry Potter (Harry Potter series)
He’s a WIZARD on the ball (get it? Ahahahaha...)! Harry will surely mesmerise the crowds with his bewitching skills, and put his well documented sporting ability (Quidditch captain of Hogwarts dontcha know!) to use. Ideal for taking free kicks, as he can use his wand to bend the ball over the wall and past the goalie.
Central Midfield:
Donkey Kong (Donkey Kong series)
DK is truly the missing link in GM’s centre...the powerhouse! Helping out in defence with crunching tackles, or soaring forwards with awesome strength, before unleashing a devastating shot, Mr Kong is the ultimate midfielder. With a mean volley (see Mario Tennis), and a formidable aerial presence, nobody’s better for sheer power.
Right Wing:
Eddie Gordo (Tekken series)
The man with quite possibly the liveliest feet in gaming, Eddie would apply his wealthy knowledge of capoiera to the pitch, and trick his way past the hapless defenders, before using his naturally swing-y limbs to bend the ball into the box, giving the perfect cross. Also, great at taking corners and works well within a team (see Tekken Tag Tournament).
Centre Forward:
Solid Snake (Metal Gear series)
The sultan of sneaking Solid Snake would be able to use his expert infiltration skills to work his way into the penalty box unnoticed, and fire a shot into the back of the net. Agility will also help him in the long run, with jumping and crawling specialities of his (not sure how the crawling would help, but at least he can win a header!).
Centre Forward:
James Bond (Specifically, GoldenEye)
Also adept in the art of stealth, Bond would be able to slip into the box no problems, and could no doubt use his charms to gain the attention of Nell, Team GM’s centre back. But the clincher is this undeniable fact: James’ shots are deadly!
A towering ’keeper, born to stop goals; plenty of people great in the air; pacy players; great crossers; twinkle-toed attackers; sneaky strikers; strong defenders; an experienced captain; a free kick expert; no petty squabbles within the side and of course, a snazzy name! The Console Kings would win the GM World Cup, no problem!

Whaddya think? Got better ideas?

FOILED AGAIN. Bwaha, it is actually a competition entry for GamesMaster.
What differency does my long name make? Does it stretch out the columns? Cuz if it does, I can change it.
:-)
Can't you make it something shorter?!
Thanks.
