To not rise to the bait, not stand up and declare what it is you feel.
It’s heaven to connect to the feeling you know lies hidden,
Despite the barriers that strength cannot touch.
Why can’t that be me, the statue that has words written across his chest,
So easy and quaint to read.
That will buy me time, buy me seconds and minutes and hours,
Of time to stare at the stars that I can sometimes touch.
But to sometimes touch and never have,
Would be a pain that constricts the lungs of my mind.
I wouldn’t breathe, couldn’t breathe, shouldn’t breathe
The air that does not flow within me.
I could stand there like a statue,
Words so clear and brazen as the sun.
But they are just words,
Words that will flutter and die come the night.
For as the statue stands, the words are akin,
Both are as hollow as its love.
The stars will always burn, will always consume,
Perhaps I want to be consumed?
Did you ever think, that pain can be shared?
Not transferred, but shared in a gesture of contempt.
I’ll walk the coals,
Every day and night, if that is what it takes.
To hold you in my arms,
In the night breeze that is for but two.
Words flow as water when the rains of joy fall,
And refill the vase that empties.
Not of free will or desire,
Does a river ever have free will?
Can a river be stopped,
Does it flow where it is told?
The river will never stop, never dry
Only divert in the face of winter.
But if I had but a few words, my love, I’d say,
For us, it’s worth the wait.
OK.
:)
Keep it up.
Thanks.
Well for you anyway ;)
> Oh and never giveup heart ;0)
Insomnia-induced tired eyes turned that into "Oh and never give head" Jesus I wish I could sleep...
Anyway, excellent piece, Gaz, keep writing, please?
