Tobey Macguire plays Peter Parker just right, beginning with the right level of nerdyness, and finding more confidence as he develops as Spiderman.
Willem Defoe has scary goblin teeth as it is, so is a top villian, though what I disliked most about the movie was the green-goblin's mask. I think it was it's teeth.
Kirsten Dunst has a bit of a wide face, but there's a nippletastic wet t-shirt scene which more than makes up for this.
Old wrestler Macho Man Randy Savage is in it too, which is funny, as he must really be getting on a bit now. "Bonesaw McGraw Oh yeah!"
So yeah, it's a fantastic story, with the origins of Spiderman, the characters are nicely rounded comic book characters, and thoroughly likeable, and I also thought that the script and dialogue was good stuff, showing that an action movie can have decent dialogue.
I'd recommend this highly, if you like the whole super hero thing.

Well said Ali. The wrestling bit was entertaining, but felt that it didn't really fit in with the rest of the film. Also, I agree that CGI special effects were used FAR too much in the film, and it was noticable rather easily where they had implemented it. Still, beats some old fart on a bungee cord I suppose :P
Great film, beats Micheal Keaton out by miles...
Later, we shall argue that the sky is not in fact blue just because everyone else says so.
I fell asleep about two thirds through it...
Saw it on Friday 14th.

I'm going to see it after my exams are out the way and my expectations are growing all the time. In fact the only complaint I've heard is from those who have seen that roof jumping BBC man and then wondered why Spiderman needed to use CGI...
My question is... is it better than "Batman" and "Batman Returns"? Because at the moment they're the benchmark in comic book films, with "X-men" coming a close third.
Son: Dad?
GG: AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!

William Dafoe must have had trouble memorising his lines.
