I couldn't think on who else to ask and am sure you are pretty confident with PHP. I was just wondering how you got started, books, URL's etc would be appreciated and how long have you been using it.

Anyone else who uses PHP could you post anything that you found helpful too, thanks.

Rob hit the nail on the head with his method :o)

I started off with 'Sams Teach yourself PHP in 24 Hours'. this helped me along greatly, although I should poit out that there are a few errors in the guy write, lol.

I mainly went on the Web and searched for Sourse Code, PHP Scripts that others were offering and took not of how they did it, learning from examples. Then started making my own, using these examples as Referances.

just to follow on from turbonutter's post. there's nothing wrong with copying other people's source - just as long as your not caught!!

no, honestly though, these are the web sites I used to learn PHP:
http://www.php.net - Download the PHP manual!!! very useful...
http://www.1phpstreet.com - not the best, but some good scripts to copy
http://www.phpbuilder.com - damn good/big site, u can find anythng u want

I told a guy i could write PHP when I blatently couldn't. He was offering £200!!!

I learnt by example. All you need is the manual, familliarise yourself with that. The way it works is all pretty simple and logical, it's just how a programming language should be. Then, read other people's source to see how they did it. I never use anyone else's PHP software, I just write it myself. However, I DO look at how other people did it for inspiration. This is what OpenSource is all about!
