I know I really shouldn't be on here, I'm supposed to be revising. By the way, I had my first exam today, Decolonisation in the British Empire, went really well, thanks for asking. :D

Anyway, I decided to peruse the forums to see what has been going on, in fact tonight was the first time I'd been on the net for ages, and to my astonishment, I found out that Stone Cold Steve Austin has been fired!!!

Wow, big news, huh? But to be honest I've been surprised and a little disappointed by the internet backlash not just from you guys but from the various wrestling websites I've visited. It seems that everyone is happy that Stone Cold has left, and that he is the cause in decline of the WWE.

Now, don't get me wrong, I'm not full of blind faith to Austin. I know he has been a liability recently - he hasn't had any decent fueds since with Angle, and his heel turn didn't work out. I also know that he basically buried the nWo angle by refusing to do the J-O-B to Scott Hall at Wrestlemania and has publicly made known his feelings towards the creative department. And now, after refusing again to job to Lesnar, he's walked out - and everyone is delighted!

Why? Stone Cold is definitely in the wrong - no employee is bigger than the company and I think he may be discovering that now. But are we saying Stone Cold's opinion were wrong? In my opinion, they were spot on - the writing has been crap and everyone has suffered as a result. But this ain't all down to Stone Cold. Cast your mind back a few years- WWF was being trounced by WcW in the ratings until who saved them? Yep, Stone Cold. Stone Cold WAS Attitude, and it was down to him that the company is where it is today, becuase whilst Rocky Maivia was being booed in every arena and Hunter Hearst Helmsley was stuck in midcard hell, Stone Cold was keeping the company alive.

It seems everyone has forgotten that. Whilst I agree he was bang out of order, he was right. The WWE has been terrible recently. And Austin still has a lot to offer, if given the right storyline. Don't give me loads of replies about Austin having a massive ego and refusing to put others over, because I agree with you. All I'm saying is just remember what he did for the WWF when you are celebrating his departure.

(And if there is one good thing to come out of this, hopefully Stone Cold will sign with NWA:TNA and make them viable opposition to the WWE so Vince and Co. will start delivering must-see TV every week like they used to).

Thanks for reading...I await your replies.

I think Stone Cold did deserve to be fired but he is a big wrestler and Vince should have thought long and hard before sacking him.

Basically, I don't give a damn why Austin has been fired, or how he has behaved out of the ring. In my opinion he should have been sacked (I might add along with Kevin Nash, Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan) because he simply cannot get it done in the ring anymore.

To be honest Stone Cold should have given his opinion and then done the job. If he doesn't do what he's told and his holding back the creative staff's ideas he doesn't deserve a place in the WWE. He has been a good wrestler but isn't quite the same anymore. He's served the company well and it would be sad to see him leave on bad terms with a company he helped revitalize. Theses must be the same kind of feelings going through Vince McMahon's head as from what I know about him from Mick Foley's autobiographies is a very thoughtful man.

Have to disagree with you there Starlight about his Heel turn for the alliance. He plays a cr@p heel. His Character isn't suited for it. It was one reason why The Alliance angle failed.

But yes, he really does need a new gimmick.

It's not Stone Cold I'm fed up with it the fact that he won't job and uses his backstage power as soon as the best storylines going doesn't involve him, in his mind if he's not in the limelight he's not doing it.

I don't hate Austin, I like him, it's just his real life attitude of late really that's getting in the way but as you say it's all day to the creative departmets to get good storylines, the wrestlers job is to act them out.

As for Stone Cold saving them, don't think so somehow, look at all the big "stars" that jobbed to Austin back then, the storylines saved it and the character, fair enough he played it out good but I wouldn't say he saved it.

Austin needs a character change, the bad alliance Stone Cold was so good.

To be honest, Austin hasn't looked the same since he had that neck injury. He doesn't deliver a stunner properly anymore but he CAN put a good match together. Flair V Austin was a good match. Unfortunately, his beer-drinking persona is wearing a little thin at the moment.
