Well, they 'would' be going by the current exchange rate and as long as you bought them from France. However, the point is, when the Euro DOES come in we can say to retailers:
"Hey, this game is 20 Euros cheaper on the Continent, (cos we looked), so bring your prices down!"
Retailers will then say: "Ah, but it costs more to import to the UK because we are surrounded by sea and we have higher import duties to pay and then of course there's tax and VAT and transportation costs (road tax, diesel costs) and so on."
To which we will respond: "Male cowpat!"
If there's a good excuse for high prices of games in the UK compared to mainland Europe when the Euro comes into effect, I'll eat my PS2. Or move to France. Or both.
> Strange place for your mind to be on a Friday afternoon, FM...
Well, I'm running my weekly full AV scan atm, so can't play online games, so whilst I was perusing goodies on SR's site and plotting the imminent destruction of my monthly wage packet on gaming fun for the next month, it suddenly occurred to me to have a quick look at what the French were paying for similar titles. (Seeing as they got kicked out of the World Cup recently they'll have more time to play video games, clearly).
Normally my mind is on sex 24/7, just so you don't think I'm totally crazy.
"Male cowpat!"
I just got that. Hehehe.
Additionally, watch "Clarkson meets the neighbours" (or whatever it's called) tonight, as he'll be doing some major European mocking :)
