Which is the best wipeout game on PS2 and PS1?

Some people say that the best version is on PS1.

Oh well i went for wipeout 3 from the first reccomendation, got it for £5 so not bad. If i like it i'll maybe go for wipeout 2097.

Nah, 2097 just had "it", you know? Something none of the others had.

Wipeout 2097 was it's finest hour but looking back on them today I'd have to say Wipeout 3:Special Edition is the best in the series.

Wip3out is rectum, I can't believe you suggested that! It's the worst of the series!

IMHO, the order is:

WipEout 2097 (which is the best racing game on any format if you ask me)
WipEout
WipEout Fusion
Wip3out

I can argue this aaaall night, come on, let's really have this one out properly.

I prefer Wip3out to the others!

2097 had the best gameplay (and Firestarter !) Wip3out had better graphics.

The best one to get is the special edition if you can find it cos it is sort of an almagamation of the best bits from all three with Wip3out style graphics which made some of the tracks from 2097 look lovely and smooth, cant remember what music was on it though.

Think i'll go for wipeout 3 then. I can always just put on prodigy album if i want that song on. ;)
