Come to think of it, there's no black people at all in the series. Weird...

Yes exactly LOTR is a prime example of that no matter how good the film is it can never replace the book or the radio series which was also excelent ;0)

Exactly. Me and YH both read the Goodkind books. You know, as something to do to prevent the books being used as wrapping for fish ;-). Anyway, the point is we both have completely different images of what Kahlan looks like. Thats why obscure artwork on books also helps.
The beauty is two people can read the same book and have different images in their head of the characters and locations and everything.

By that I'm assuming that you mean mould, because in your house books aren't obviously the order of the day. This is obvious not only from your post but also your spelling ability.
Reading is not boring. It just requires a little imagination. Most TV is made by people who read. Surprisingly. And most of it is based on books. Books have been around longer. Books are often better (name me one film which has actually been better than the book it was based on - 90% of the time the book's fans hate the film version, not just because they often fall short of the mark, but because they also destroy your imagination's version of events and your mental image of characters).
I actually prefer books to films.
Try reading a little Eses. You never know you migh find something you like. Most of the books they make you read at school are either boring or crap, so I'll let you off there because I imagine you're still at school. But try reading something like Catch-22; it's laugh-a-minute stuff and really well written.
Seriously reading can be fun, exciting and better than any film/TV program/video game will ever be. You just have to give it a chance. Tell me the types of fil,s and TV programs you like and I'll recommend you some books to read that you'll actually enjoy.

Irony. Sweet irony. The guy who doesn't read can't spell...
Books kick TVs behind anyday. Ask Sonic!
